The summer of 1994 saw so many fires burning in the Stehekin area that the smoke turned the sun into a copper-colored disc when viewed even far down Lake Chelan. This shot is from our camp on a bench at 6400' on the west flank of Mt Goode as the sun descends behind a shoulder of Buckner.
